      • Dear Online Students,

        This course runs January 8 to May 15. In this letter you will find basic information about the course as well as resources for ensuring your success in online education. The course will be conducted in MOODLE learning system and everything for your success you will find there. Once the course starts you will be able to login at the KIMEP MOODLE website.

        Success in an online course requires just as much work and effort as success in a traditional face-to-face course. For online learner, self-motivation and discipline are paramount for successful completion the course. This is a fully online course so there will be no required campus visits. But virtual office hours will be available twice a week.Your success is important to me. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are having difficulty with the course material. General questions about the course should be posted on the Discussion Forum. If you have questions that are more personal in nature use e-mail to contact me: anurtaeva@kimep.kz .

        For some of you virtual learning environment may be new and raise numerous questions related to different components of online course: MOODLE functioning, course topics, etc. You can ask any questions, give feedback, share your ideas and concerns with each other and with your instructor. For such purposes please use the Discussion Forum which will help you to gain knowledge in a friendly, welcoming environment. But please be polite and respectful to others’ opinions. Your feedback is always welcome!

      • ACTIVITIES

        During this semester you will have different type ACTIVITIES: 1) Video-based ACTIVITIES: watch VIDEO recordings and later, at scheduled time take online tests; 2) EXCEL-based ACTIVITIES, involving calculations/graphs; 3) ACTIVITY based on data collected using AirKz mobile application; 4) ACTIVITIES using Internet or other online tools.         Course Overview

        "Introduction to Programming" course is an introduction to the fundamentals of computer programming. This course teaches fundamental concepts and terminology of computer programming. Students will develop skills in designing, writing and debugging simple computer programs. No knowledge of programming is assuming. This course provides knowledge to expand, optimize, and increase the efficiency of the MS Office applications skills by tapping into the powerful programming, automation, and customization capabilities available with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming language. This course covers those uses of the automated tasks which students are likely to encounter early in their careers.

        Course Format

        The course is designed for study for 16 weeks, including lectures, quizzes, assignments and further readings. All quizzes and assignments are graded. You can listen to the lecture, attempt the quizzes, and work on the assignment exercises on-line. In the quizzes/assignments you have between one to four maximum attempts at each question, depending on the type of the question..

Please use the Discussion Forum let us know how you're doing. We want continue to encourage everyone to actively use the forum to ask questions, give feedback, and even help your fellow learners.
