A course aimed at introducing students to the basic concepts, rules of intellectual property. The main objective is to give understanding of protection and enforcement system established in Kazakhstan with respect to each IP item, such as industrial property items, copyright and related rights items, means of individualization, etc., as well as understanding of different regional and international systems of protection of IP items.
At the end of the course, the student will know how to register or otherwise protect the rights to each IP subject matter, what system for registering IP items, national, regional or international, is more suitable for each case, depending on needs of an applicant; the student will know how to enforce IP rights, what instruments and institutions can be used for this purpose, how to transfer rights to an object of intellectual property fully or partially.
The students will have the skills to consider IP infringement cases and represent the side of a right holder or the side of an infringer.
