This is an introductory course to the complex field of contemporary art and visual culture. Visual culture studies emerged as a response to the increasingly visualised world that operates through images. Addressing visual culture through the prism of contemporary art means confronting challenging questions, such as what is art, what its role could be in the globalised and increasingly digitised world, how art can be a form of thinking through making. The course aims to teach students to discuss, interpret, and analyse art. Throughout the course, you will participate in practices of active looking, creative exercises, and regular group discussions, which will help to develop your critical thinking and articulation skills.
