This course is an introduction to drawing and painting. You do not need to have advanced drawing skills, yet some prior experience and, more importantly, genuine interest and motivation are expected. This course aims to teach you basic skills and fundamental concepts in drawing and painting. Skill acquisition is focused on observing and drawing from the natural world, manufactured objects, the human figure and other subjects. Tools include graphite pencils, charcoal, pastels, water-based paints. Starting from the basics of drawing, it gradually progresses to more advanced concepts, and finally, to painting techniques. The concepts include line, shade, perspective, composition, colour palette, basics of plastic anatomy. In addition, you will understand how to feel colour and how to work with this knowledge.
