I welcome you to the Introduction to the legal system of Kazakhstan course at KIMEP.

The main accent of the course will on Kazakhstani legal system, its structure and operation of the central institutions and processes, purpose and basic structure of the civil and criminal justice systems, the role of the Constitution, International Laws as well as comparison with other legal systems including the common law.

Timetable

Lectures: 

Monday and Wednesday at 13:00  -14:15

Office hours: Monday to Friday 2pm till 7pm

 

Participation

Participation is obligatory, all absence forms should be submitted in advance or within the reasonable time

Online lectures will be recorded by the lecturer and not by students

 

Netiquette rules:

General rules for online classroom communication including via Zoom

- Treat your instructor and classmates with respect in email or any other communication;

- Use clear and concise language;

- Remember to use correct spelling and grammar in all online communication;

- Avoid using slang and text abbreviations;

- Avoid using the caps lock feature;

- Be cautious when using humor or sarcasm since communicating the tone online may be problematic;

- Be careful with personal as well as confidential information.

- Your web cameras should always be switched to the “on” mode. Switching it off is allowed only for a short period of time when necessary.

 

Email communication netiquette:

- Use a descriptive subject line;

- Avoid attachments unless you are sure your recipients can open them;

- Avoid HTML in favor of plain text;

- Sign your message with your name and return e-mail address;

- Think before you send the e-mail to more than one person;

- Be sure you REALLY want everyone to receive your response when you click, “reply all”;

- Be sure that the message author intended for the information to be passed along before you click the “forward” button.

 

Security:

- Do not share your Moodle password with anyone;

- Change your password immediately if you think someone else might know it;

- Always log out when you are finished using the LMS (Moodle).
